After the Bill's Scrutiny Committee failed to engage with our amendment proposals that Parliament had published and tabled for their consideration we decided to try a new approach.

We alerted Jennifer Nadel, CEO of Compassion in Politics, to how the Misleading the Public offence could operate in court against deceitful claims used by Government Ministers. We then asked her to assist with tabling an amendment in the Commons to add MPs under the offence.

Jennifer then contacted Luke Myer MP who proposed these amendments to add MPs and Lords* under the Misleading the Public offence.

Check the list of which MPs have already supported the amendments. ExecProsec is campaigning to get these amendments succesfully passed in the House of Commons.
